Each year, the Arts Council of Greater Weston selects graduating seniors who have been integral members of our community, dedicating countless hours and unwavering effort throughout their high school years. These exceptional seniors have exhibited outstanding help at ACGW events and showcased their remarkable leadership in guiding volunteer teams through various initiatives. Their contributions resonate deeply within the Arts Council and the City of Weston, embodying our mission to foster artistic expression and community connection.
Each student receives a monetary award as a token of our gratitude. Additionally, we are honored to announce a special Volunteer Service Award in tribute to the Chris and Anne Eddy family, made possible through their generous support of this program. We look forward to an exciting future filled with continued community engagement and artistic celebration.
This year’s winners of the Greater Weston Volunteer Service Award are:
Sabrina Bormanis a graduate of Cypress Bay High School and former intern with the Arts Council of Greater Weston. This summer, she will attend Florida State University as a Quest Scholar, where she plans to study Communications and pursue a career in advertising.
Sabrina received this award in honor of the Chris and Anne Eddy family.
Vennela Chinta is a student graduating from Cypress Bay High with interests in business, leadership, and the arts. After high school, she plans to attend college at the University of South Florida and continue building skills that will help her make a positive impact in her community and future career.
Camila López is from Caracas, Venezuela, and has been living in the United States for over 10 years. After high school, she will attend the University of Florida to study Elementary Education; eventually, she would love to become an educational psychologist.
Emilia Ochoa is originally from Caracas, Venezuela. After high school, she plans to attend college and pursue a career as an occupational therapist. She is especially grateful to her parents, who have been her constant support and rock through every step of this journey.
Joana Monteiro De Castro Inuy is from Brazil and is going to study psychology at FSU and wants to become a clinical psychologist.
Valentina Valecillos is from Caracas, Venezuela, and will attend the University of Florida this fall as an animal science major and hopes to become a wildlife or equine sports veterinarian.
