A Winter Wonderland Returns: Plantation’s Beloved Holiday Tradition

Decorated Christmas trees at the Plantation Historical Museum Winter Wonderland

The magic of the holiday season is returning to Plantation! For more than four decades, the Plantation Historical Museum has transformed into a festive wonderland filled with beautifully decorated Christmas trees, sparkling ornaments, and displays celebrating holiday traditions from around the world. This November, the beloved Winter Wonderland exhibition returns for its 41st year, inviting families to experience one of the city’s most cherished holiday traditions.

The 41st Annual Winter Wonderland opens Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Plantation Historical Museum, located at 511 North Fig Tree Lane. The free exhibition will remain on display through January 2, 2027, giving residents and visitors plenty of opportunities to experience the holiday spirit.

Over the years, Winter Wonderland has become a favorite destination for families looking to celebrate the season without leaving their community. The museum features more than 40 uniquely decorated Christmas trees, each showcasing a different theme, style, or cultural tradition. Past displays have included trees inspired by Disney characters, butterflies, fire trucks, and Victorian dolls, demonstrating the creativity and imagination that make the exhibition so special.

Visitors can also look forward to the museum’s traditional miniature holiday train village and displays recognizing celebrations such as Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. Together, these exhibits reflect the diverse backgrounds and traditions of the families who call Plantation home.

Behind the festive displays is a dedicated group of volunteers who devote countless hours to decorating trees, arranging ornaments, and preparing the museum for the holiday season. Their efforts help transform the historic building into a magical destination that brings generations of Plantation families together.

The annual celebration is also an opportunity to discover the Plantation Historical Museum itself. Located within the scenic Botanical Gardens Park, the museum preserves the city’s history through permanent exhibits featuring artifacts from the Seminole and Tequesta peoples, historic memorabilia, and displays highlighting Plantation’s early development.

Since opening its current building in 1985, the museum has become an important part of Plantation’s cultural heritage. Winter Wonderland adds another dimension to that mission, creating new memories while preserving a tradition that has delighted residents for 41 years.

Whether visiting for the first time or returning as part of an annual family tradition, Winter Wonderland offers a chance to enjoy the sights and spirit of the season. It is also a wonderful setting for holiday family photographs and introducing younger generations to one of Plantation’s favorite celebrations.

The exhibition is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is free.
