Every veteran has a story worth telling. Their experiences reflect courage, sacrifice, and an enduring commitment to service. This Veterans Day, Pembroke Pines and Miramar invite residents to honor these extraordinary men and women through special ceremonies and heartfelt tributes.
Pembroke Pines Honors Its Heroes
The City of Pembroke Pines will host its annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Wednesday, November 11, at noon at Memorial Park, located at the Charles F. Dodge City Center, 601 City Center Way.
The ceremony will begin with a special musical performance by the United States Air Force Band of the West at 11:45 a.m., followed by a formal presentation of colors by the Pembroke Pines Police and Fire-Rescue Honor Guard, guest speakers, and patriotic tributes.
One of the event’s most meaningful highlights will be the unveiling of the 2026 Honoring Veterans Portrait Project, a special exhibition celebrating local veterans through professional photographs and personal stories.
Participating veterans share memories of their military service, heritage, and experiences both during and after their time in uniform. Their stories are displayed alongside their portraits, creating a powerful tribute to the individuals who have defended our freedoms.
Miramar Celebrates Those Who Served
The City of Miramar will hold its Veterans Day Ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park, located at 6405 Arbor Drive.
The ceremony will feature guest speakers, an Honor Guard presentation, and refreshments as residents gather to recognize the courage and dedication of America’s military veterans.
Miramar also celebrates its local military heroes through the Heroes Among Us program. This special initiative recognizes Miramar residents who are veterans or active-duty service members by displaying their portraits on commemorative street banners.
The banners, featuring honorees’ names, military ranks, branches of service, and years served, are displayed near the city’s 9/11 and Veterans Memorial at Miramar Regional Park and Veterans Park in Historic Miramar during the months leading up to Veterans Day.
A Day to Remember and Give Thanks
Veterans Day traces its origins to November 11, 1918, when an armistice ended the fighting in World War I. Originally known as Armistice Day, the holiday was later expanded to honor all Americans who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
Whether attending a ceremony, listening to a veteran’s story, or simply offering a heartfelt thank-you, Veterans Day reminds us that the freedoms we enjoy have been preserved through the courage and dedication of those who served.
