The City of Weston is adding four new honors to its trophy case after earning statewide recognition for its parks programming, community events and communications.
Weston received four 2026 SUNsational Awards from the Florida Festivals & Events Association (FFEA), which recognizes creativity and innovation among organizations producing festivals, special events and community programming throughout Florida. The awards were presented during FFEA’s 32nd Annual Convention & Expo. More than 200 events submitted entries for consideration in categories ranging from printed materials and photography to promotional items and event programming.
Leading Weston’s honors was the Weston@Play Parks & Recreation Guide, which earned first place in the Brochure category. The Winter/Spring 2026 edition was produced through a collaboration between the City’s Communications and Parks & Recreation departments and provides residents with information about recreational programs, activities and special events happening throughout Weston.
The City’s annual Earth Day, the Weston Way celebration earned second place in the Photo Op category. The family-friendly event brings residents together to learn about environmental awareness, conservation and ways they can help protect the planet.
Weston’s popular Hometown 5K Run/Walk earned two additional awards. A photograph capturing a memorable moment from the event received third place in the Photo category, while the race’s custom participant medal earned third place in the Promotional Item category. The annual 5K is part of Weston’s Hometown Fourth of July festivities and brings runners and walkers of all ages together to kick off the community celebration.
Entries for the SUNsational Awards are evaluated by professionals from fields including media, printing, photography, website design, promotional marketing and social media.
The four awards highlight the work of Weston’s Parks and Recreation and Communications departments, as well as the staff and community partners behind many of the programs and events residents enjoy throughout the year.
For Weston, the recognition is about more than trophies. It reflects the creativity and collaboration that go into creating programs and experiences designed to keep residents connected to their community.
