On Wednesday, November 11, 2026, residents of Davie and Cooper City will come together to honor the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Both communities have a longstanding tradition of recognizing veterans through ceremonies that celebrate their service, sacrifice, and dedication to our country.
In Davie, the Town’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department traditionally hosts its annual Veterans Day Ceremony at Veterans Park, located at 5750 SW 39th Street. The ceremony typically begins at 10:00 a.m. and welcomes veterans, active-duty military personnel, families, and residents of all ages.
The event features patriotic tributes, guest speakers, an honor guard, and recognition of veterans representing the various branches of the military. A light lunch has traditionally followed the ceremony, giving attendees an opportunity to connect with local veterans and personally thank them for their service.
Davie is also bringing back its popular Veterans Voucher Program for the sixth consecutive year. The program provides 100 eligible Davie veterans with complimentary $30 meal vouchers redeemable at participating local restaurants during the Veterans Day holiday period. The initiative not only recognizes veterans but also supports Davie’s local dining establishments. Veterans must meet residency and military service eligibility requirements to participate.
Meanwhile, Cooper City will host its annual Veterans Day Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Park, located at 9001 SW 51st Street. The free event invites residents to gather in a show of appreciation for those who have defended our nation’s freedoms. The ceremony provides an opportunity for veterans, their families, local officials, and community members to reflect on the importance of military service and honor the sacrifices made by generations of Americans.
Veterans Day traces its roots to November 11, 1918, when an armistice ended the fighting in World War I. Originally observed as Armistice Day, the holiday was renamed Veterans Day in 1954 to recognize all Americans who have served in the military.
Whether attending a local ceremony, thanking a veteran personally, or participating in a community tribute, Veterans Day is an opportunity to recognize the extraordinary contributions of those who answered the call to serve.
