The holiday season is about to shine a little brighter in Cooper City! Residents are invited to untangle their Christmas lights, dust off their favorite decorations, and transform their homes into festive masterpieces for the city’s annual Holiday Home Decorating Contest.
From dazzling light displays and colorful inflatables to traditional wreaths, illuminated reindeer, and elaborate winter wonderlands, the competition encourages homeowners to showcase their creativity and spread holiday cheer throughout the community.
Registration for the 2026 contest opens Wednesday, November 4, and continues through Friday, December 11. The entry fee is just $5 per household, making it an affordable way for residents to join the fun and show off their holiday spirit.
Participating homes will compete in three categories: Most Lights, Best Decorated, and Most Creative. Whether your display features thousands of twinkling lights, an imaginative holiday theme, or a beautifully coordinated arrangement, there’s an opportunity for every decorating style to shine.
Judging will take place on Wednesday, December 16, from 6:45 to 9:00 p.m., when judges will tour participating homes and evaluate their festive displays. An additional judging evening may be scheduled if the number of entries exceeds expectations.
The contest isn’t just for those competing. It also offers families and neighbors an opportunity to enjoy the holiday season together. Residents can take an evening drive through Cooper City’s neighborhoods, admire the decorated homes, and discover the creativity of their fellow residents. The city’s holiday decorating competition has become a festive tradition that brings a little extra magic to local streets.
Whether you’re competing for the brightest display or simply decorating to bring smiles to passing neighbors, the Holiday Home Decorating Contest is a wonderful way to celebrate the season and spread joy throughout Cooper City.
