Coral Springs Salutes Veterans

Every November, Americans come together to honor the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. In Coral Springs, that tradition continues with two special events recognizing our nation’s veterans, celebrating their sacrifices, and bringing the community together in appreciation of their service.

The City of Coral Springs will kick off its Veterans Day celebrations with a Patriotic Community Concert on Friday, November 6, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., on the City Hall Lawn, located at 9500 W. Sample Road. This free, family-friendly event will feature live entertainment from Home Grown, a Zac Brown Band tribute band, along with food trucks and opportunities for residents to show their appreciation for local veterans.

A special highlight of the evening will be the Honor Walk, recognizing local military heroes for their service and sacrifice. Veterans and their families will also be invited to enjoy a designated VIP area featuring complimentary refreshments and commemorative lanyards. Residents are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for an evening of music, patriotism, and community spirit.

The tribute continues on Wednesday, November 11, with the city’s annual Veterans Day Ceremony at Veterans Park, located at 8601 Royal Palm Boulevard. Organized in partnership with the Veterans Coalition of Coral Springs, the ceremony provides an opportunity for residents to reflect on the courage, dedication, and sacrifices of those who have worn our nation’s uniform.

Seating begins at 10:30 a.m., with the ceremony officially starting at 10:45 a.m. The event is free and open to the public. In the event of rain, the ceremony will move indoors to the Coral Springs Gymnasium at 2501 Coral Springs Drive.

Veterans Day traces its origins to November 11, 1918, when an armistice brought an end to the fighting in World War I. Originally known as Armistice Day, the holiday was renamed Veterans Day in 1954 to recognize Americans who served in all wars. Today, it honors all military veterans, both living and deceased, who answered the call to serve their country.

Coral Springs demonstrates its appreciation for veterans throughout the year through initiatives such as its Hometown Heroes Banner Program, commemorative engraved bricks at Veterans Park, and designated veterans’ parking spaces at select city facilities. These programs provide lasting recognition for local residents who have served.

Veterans Day is more than a date on the calendar. It is an opportunity to thank the neighbors, friends, family members, and community leaders whose military service helped preserve the freedoms Americans enjoy today.

Whether attending the Patriotic Community Concert or the Veterans Day Ceremony, Coral Springs residents are encouraged to take part in honoring those who have given so much to our nation.
