Get ready to tumble down the rabbit hole! One of Pembroke Pines’ most beloved family traditions returns this November as the 25th Annual StoryBook Festival transforms the Southwest Regional Library into a magical world of imagination, adventure, and literary fun. The free event takes place on Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., promising a memorable day for young readers and their families.
This year’s theme, “Curiouser and Curiouser: Inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland,” invites children to step into the whimsical world of Lewis Carroll’s classic story. From the Mad Hatter to the Queen of Hearts, beloved characters will help bring the magic of storytelling to life through colorful costumes, interactive performances, and imaginative activities.
A highlight of the festival is the enchanting Fantasy Forest, where fairy tales come alive as families journey along a magical path to encounter familiar characters such as Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood, and Rumpelstiltskin. This popular attraction offers children the opportunity to experience their favorite stories in an interactive setting. Tickets for Fantasy Forest tours are distributed separately on the day of the event, while supplies last.
Throughout the festival, families can enjoy live storytelling, musical performances, face painting, arts and crafts, and opportunities to meet local children’s book authors. Young attendees are encouraged to dress as their favorite literary characters and participate in the festive costume parade.
The entertainment lineup includes Wonderland Unscripted, an interactive comedy performance, The Tortoise and the Hare: The Musical, and a lively presentation inspired by Alice in Wonderland Jr. Visitors can also enjoy roaming costumed characters, stilt walkers, and a variety of performances designed to entertain children of all ages.
For families hoping to expand their home libraries, the festival’s popular Big Book Giveaway provides another reason to attend. The first 1,000 children will receive a free book, helping encourage a lifelong love of reading.
Now celebrating its silver anniversary, the StoryBook Festival has become a cherished community tradition, drawing thousands of children and parents each year. Presented by Broward County Library with support from the Broward Public Library Foundation, the City of Pembroke Pines, and community partners, the event celebrates the power of books to inspire creativity, curiosity, and learning.
The festival takes place at the Southwest Regional Library, located at 16835 Sheridan Street in Pembroke Pines. Admission and parking are free. Families are encouraged to arrive early, particularly those interested in the Fantasy Forest tours.
