Summer Sounds

It’s hot.  It’s rainy.  The mosquitoes are abundant.

The Weston Music Society has the perfect antidote for these problems.  They proudly present Summer Sounds. It will be held at the Glades Ballroom at Temple Dor Dorim, July 16, 2026, 7:00pm.

It will feature a South Florida soprano, vocalist Dreya Starr, who performs with the South Florida Symphony Orchestra.  Dreya is from Medellin, Colombia.  A graduate of the University of Florida with an MS in Music and vocal performance, and a music educator, she is known for her seamless blend of Pop and Classical music.  A trio of accomplished musicians will accompany her.

Nancy Russo and Louis Marett will be honored with the WMS Platinum Circle Award.

Nancy has served the community by volunteering with Harvest Drive, the Humane Society, the Broward Sheriff’s Office, and other activities.  She joined the Weston Friends Club in 2000 and, since 2005, has been on the Board serving in many capacities, including 2 terms as President.  This organization promotes community by attracting Westonites who want to share activities and camaraderie.  She has been a long-time supporter of the WMS, spreading the word about their activities.

Lou is a former High School Social Studies Teacher.  He became an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Education at Dowling College, Oakdale, NY.  He has volunteered at the Weston Public Library teaching U.S. History and Government to citizenship applicants and conversational English.  He has volunteered with Meals on Wheels. He has been a WMS Board member since 2013 and is currently President, enthusiastically reaching out to the community and music organizations

Even more fun is planned, including door prizes, prize drawings, and a post-concert dessert reception.  A truly cool evening of music and camaraderie.
