WE ALL HAD “THE TIME OF OUR LIVES”

On a Saturday evening, in the beautiful Weston Town Center Park, the air filled with Symphony In the Park: “Sounds of Spring”.  And what sounds we heard!  The South Florida Symphony Orchestra returned with five spectacular soloists.  Presented by the City of Weston and the Weston Music Society (WMS) in collaboration with the Arts Council of Greater Weston, this free event has become a community favorite.

WMS President Lou Marett noted, “Many attendees told me this was their fourth time attending this concert series and wouldn’t miss it. A record crowd of nearly 1,000 was so gratifying.”

Attendees showed their appreciation throughout the evening.  Alexander Zenoz and Catalina Cuervo enchanted us with their rendition of “Quizas, Quizas, Quizas,” which is about a young couple trying to figure out their future.  You could sense the animals parading down the aisles as Lovell Rose gave full voice to Elton John’s “Circle of Life”.  The kids all loved hearing Dreya Starr give vocal magic to “What Else Can I Do” from “Encanto”.  And Neal Nelson got everyone going with “Sweet Caroline”, turning the mic to the audience as they cheerily joined the chorus right on cue by chanting  “dum, dum, dum” and “so good, so good”.  In the end, Catalina Cuervo and Neal Nelson had the audience literally on their feet dancing as they crooned “I’ve Had the Time of My Life”.  The crowd would not let them go and they responded with an encore.

The Weston Music Society VP of Events, Toby Feuer, summed it up well.  “One of the goals of the Weston Music Society is to bring top-level music of all genres to our city.  This concert certainly resonated with the crowd.  We’ve steadily grown in attendance and thank the City of Weston for partnering with us in our Holiday and Sounds of Spring concerts.  We can’t wait to do more”.
