For more than a decade, Zona Blu has been introducing South Florida diners to a side of Italian cuisine they may not have experienced before: the distinctive flavors, traditions and hospitality of Sardinia. Now, Sardinia by Zona Blu is building on that legacy with an elevated new dining experience in a picturesque lakeside setting.
Located inside The Bonaventure Town Center Club and open to both club members and the public, Sardinia by Zona Blu represents the next chapter for the family behind the popular Weston restaurant. The concept remains firmly rooted in authentic Sardinian cuisine while giving Executive Chef Andrea Fadda the opportunity to showcase his creativity through a refined menu and seasonal offerings.
Rooted in Sardinian Tradition
Sardinia’s cuisine is distinctly different from what many Americans think of as traditional Italian food. The Mediterranean island’s history was shaped by Phoenician, Roman, Spanish and North African influences, creating culinary traditions and flavors found nowhere else in Italy.
At Sardinia by Zona Blu, those influences come to life through ingredients such as artichokes, sea urchins, Mediterranean sea bass, bottarga, mirto and fregula pasta, complemented by a curated selection of Sardinian wines. The vast majority of the restaurant’s specialty ingredients are sourced from Italy and Sardinia, including cured meats, fresh cheeses, pastas and difficult-to-find products.
Authenticity starts with Chef Fadda, who was born and raised in Sardinia. After training at one of Italy’s prestigious culinary schools, his 30-plus-year career has taken him throughout Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas. Joining him are Sardinian sisters Debbie and Sheila, whose childhood summers on the island fostered a lifelong appreciation for its food, culture and traditions.

From the Mountains to the Sea
The menu reflects Sardinia’s diverse landscape, with dishes inspired by both land and sea. Among guest favorites is Risotto Montagna Bella, prepared with porcini mushrooms and braised ossobuco, while Risotto Oro Nero combines toasted Carnaroli rice cooked in squid ink and Sardinian Vermentino wine, topped with shrimp and scallops. Another standout, Agnello in Crosta di Pistacchio, features pistachio-crusted lamb chops in a Barolo wine reduction with truffled cauliflower.
Wine is equally important to the experience. The restaurant’s list features more than 100 selections, with a special emphasis on Italian and Sardinian wines, including producers rarely found elsewhere, along with notable bottles from France, California and other celebrated wine regions. The team can guide guests toward pairings for everything from seafood and handmade pasta to premium meats and the seasonal tasting menu.
A New Chapter, With Familiar Hospitality
While the surroundings and menu have evolved, the values behind Sardinia by Zona Blu have not. Exceptional food, quality ingredients and genuine hospitality remain central to the restaurant’s identity. Many team members have been with the family for years, reflecting the sense of loyalty and community they strive to create.
That commitment has earned considerable recognition. Since opening Zona Blu in 2015, the restaurant has been named Best of Weston by Our City Weston every year. Other honors include TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Award, OpenTable Diner’s Choice recognition and Ospitalità Italiana certification, an international distinction recognizing restaurants that preserve authentic Italian culinary traditions.
The Weston community has played an equally important role in the restaurant’s story. Loyal guests supported the business through COVID and have welcomed the team into countless family milestones—from birthdays to weddings and bar and bat mitzvahs. Over the years, many customers have become familiar faces and friends.
More Reasons to Visit
Chef Fadda recently introduced a seasonal tasting menu, designed to evolve throughout the year. Guests can also enjoy Tuesday Enoteca Wine Fest, weekday happy hour and lunch, wine-pairing dinners, and a new Sunday brunch experience planned for September. Catering is available for everything from intimate gatherings to weddings and corporate events.
Ultimately, Sardinia by Zona Blu offers more than dinner. From the ingredients and recipes to the wine and warm hospitality, the goal is to transport guests to a Mediterranean island thousands of miles away—without ever leaving Weston.
