The Town of Davie is preparing to invest more than $900,000 in federal housing and community development funds during the 2026-27 fiscal year, with priorities ranging from neighborhood improvements to affordable housing and first-time homebuyer assistance.
Davie expects to receive an estimated $721,578 in Community Development Block Grant funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, along with approximately $205,277 in HOME Investment Partnerships funding through the Broward County HOME Consortium. Combined, the two programs represent about $926,855 in anticipated funding, although the Town notes that final allocations are subject to change.
The largest share of CDBG funding, $327,263, is slated for affordable housing opportunities. According to the Town’s draft Annual Action Plan, those dollars may be used to acquire housing units for affordable housing purposes, rehabilitate owner-occupied homes for low- and moderate-income households, and provide direct financial assistance to eligible homebuyers.
Another $250,000 is proposed for public infrastructure improvements in low- and moderate-income areas. Planned uses include improvements to parks, neighborhood facilities, and community centers. The remaining $144,315 in CDBG funds would support program administration, fair housing education and outreach, planning, environmental review, citizen participation, and related housing initiatives.
The additional $205,277 in HOME funding is expected to be directed toward closing-cost and down-payment assistance for first-time homebuyers earning no more than 80% of the area median income.
These investments fit into Davie’s broader affordable-housing strategy. The Town’s current housing programs include assistance for essential home repairs such as roofing, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC work, while its longer-term planning calls for preserving and expanding affordable housing opportunities and increasing access to homeownership.
For residents, the funding is intended to support both individual households and the neighborhoods around them. From repairing aging homes to improving public spaces and helping qualified families buy their first house, the 2026-27 plan is designed to address several of Davie’s most pressing housing and community development needs.
