Marion Fording
First, it is with sadness and love that we announce the passing of our longtime treasurer, Marion Fording.
Marion was a truly passionate volunteer with the Hollywood Historical Society for 30 years, over 20 as Treasurer. For her dedication and service, she was honored at Broward County’s Pioneer Day celebration in 2024.
We at the HHS will miss her painstaking financial record-keeping and especially her attendance at the long-standing weekly Friday luncheon at Jack’s.
Email Richard Fording at rcfording@ua.edu for memorial service info. The family requests that donations in Marion’s memory be made to the Hollywood Historical Society.

CLIVE TAYLOR STEPS DOWN AS PRESIDENT
It’s hard to think of the HHS without Clive Taylor, but don’t worry, we haven’t seen the last of him.
Clive fell in love with history at age 8! He joined the Hollywood Historical Society board in 2018 and quickly rose to VP and then president.
As president, Clive became the face of the HHS, appearing frequently on local and social media. He revived several programs, including the Plaque program for Historic houses, and spearheaded others, like the Walking Tours and Bike Tours.
Clive led the fight to save the Hollywood Bank Building, served on the Broward Trust for Historic Preservation, and received a Historic Preservation Award from Hollywood. He helped to produce an Emmy® Award-winning documentary about the Hollywood Beach Hotel and is a known authority on South Florida History.
“Although I am retiring as President, my work in history is far from over,” said Clive. “My time here at the Hollywood Historical Society has even further ignited my passion for history. I will continue searching for and sharing the area’s hidden historical nuggets and gems, to help our community better understand and appreciate the history of our home.”
Dana Gallup Named New HHS President
The Hollywood Historical Society has announced the election of Hollywood Labor and Employment Attorney Dana Gallup as our new President.
Dana has an im- pressive 30+ year legal resume, filled with awards and accolades from peers and the industry. He has a BA in History and a Law Degree from the University of Florida. In 2002, the Gallups purchased and restored their historic home on Harrison Street, earning them the City’s 2003 Historic Home Preservation of the Year award.
“I am honored to be chosen by the HHS Board to serve as the organization’s next President,” said Dana. “I look forward to working with staff, members and volunteers to continue the important mission of historic preservation of, and education about, our 100 years “Young” City Beautiful as it embarks on the next centennial.”
His goals as president, he added, include increasing membership, fundraising, programs and events.
Dana’s appointment and plans, like all of the HHS events and exhibitions, support the mission of the Hollywood Historical Society to keep the City’s history alive for current and future generations, and we invite all to join us.
