For more than two decades, the Weston Foreign Film Series has been a cherished community tradition, bringing the sights, sounds, and stories of cultures around the world to local moviegoers. This November, the popular series returns for its 21st season, offering another extraordinary journey through international cinema without ever leaving South Florida.

Presented by the Arts Council of Greater Weston in partnership with the City of Weston, the 2026–2027 season features six acclaimed international films, screened monthly from November through April. Each movie is presented in its original language with English subtitles, giving audiences an authentic glimpse into different cultures, perspectives, and storytelling traditions.

The series kicks off Monday, November 9, with Calle Málaga (Spain), a moving story about an aging Spanish woman living in Tangier who refuses to surrender her longtime home when her daughter decides to sell it. Her determination to preserve her independence leads to unexpected discoveries about love, resilience, and second chances.

On December 14, audiences will experience The President’s Cake (Iraq), the story of a nine-year-old girl in 1990s Iraq who must find the ingredients to bake a birthday cake for the country’s president, despite living amid hardship and uncertainty.

The international journey continues in 2027 with four additional films:

November 9 – Calle Malaga (Spain): An aging Spanish woman in Tangier resists her daughter’s decision to sell her home.

December 14 – The President’s Cake (Iraq): In 1990s Iraq, 9-year-old Lamia must bake the President’s birthday cake.

January 11 – Life Is Life (Italy): An elderly shepherd in Sardinia stands up to developers determined to transform his village into a luxury resort.

February 8 – The Women’s Balcony (Israel): A spirited comedy-drama exploring tradition, community, and women’s empowerment following an accident at a religious celebration in Jerusalem.

March 8 – Broker (South Korea): A thought-provoking drama about a young mother and an underground adoption scheme, exploring the complicated meaning of family.

April 12 – The Ties That Bind Us (France): A heartfelt examination of unconventional families, relationships, and the bonds that bring people together.

Over its 21 seasons, the Weston Foreign Film Series has become more than a monthly movie outing. It is a cultural tradition that encourages residents to discover different perspectives, experience international storytelling, and connect through a shared appreciation for cinema.

All screenings take place at AMC Weston 8, located at 1338 SW 160th Avenue, with showtimes at 4:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on the second Monday of each month.

Season passes covering all six films are available for $48, while individual tickets may be purchased at the theater for $10 per film, subject to availability. Doors open 30 minutes before each screening.
