Escape Without the Effort Relaxation, Romance, & A Bit of Fun at the Ocean Allure Costa Mujeres

Sometimes, the best vacations are the ones that feel the farthest away without actually being far at all. Last month, we escaped to Ocean Allure Costa Mujeres in Cancun, Mexico and quickly realized it’s the kind of place where “busy” means choosing between floating the lazy river or ordering another frosty drink.

The brand new, adults-only, all-inclusive resort sits along the pristine shores of Costa Mujeres, just north of the neon lights of Cancun.

From the moment we arrived, there was a noticeable shift in pace. The design sets the tone immediately. Light-filled spaces, soft ocean-inspired colors, and low-rise architecture blend seamlessly with the surrounding beach and tropical landscape. It is cultured without feeling overdone, and calming without feeling dull.

It serves as a modern coastal refuge that feels worlds away from the daily grind, yet remains incredibly accessible for those flying out of MIA or FLL.

Play Like a Kid, Without the Kids

While relaxation comes effortlessly at Ocean Allure, it’s anything but sleepy. It has a full lineup of fun activities, including a foam party, name that tune and a silent disco. And because it’s adults-only, you can channel your inner spring breaker without dodging cannonballs or tiny toes.

We honed our skills on one of the resort’s three pickleball courts and enjoyed sunrise yoga on the resort’s exclusive Privilage Rooftop Bar. While neither of us had the guts to try out the resort’s surf wave simulator, we did enjoy a float or two around the lazy river, with a margarita in hand. There is even a bowling alley and virtual golf for something a bit different.

In the evenings, the resort comes alive with music, shows, and entertainment that add energy without overwhelming the laid-back vibe.

Culinary Journeys

Dining is a major part of the experience, and Ocean Allure does not disappoint. Our favorites were their restaurants that featured local fare. Pez Dama, located right by the beach, was our go-to for lunch thanks to its tasty shrimp ceviche and relaxed, oceanfront setting. It is the kind of place where you can linger over a beachy cocktail and Baha tacos while listening to the sounds of crashing waves.

We also enjoyed Margarita, the resort’s upscale Mexican restaurant. The pork shank pibil was a delight, and something neither of us had tried before. Beyond those, the resort offers everything from Italian classics and teppanyaki to French cuisine and a classic steakhouse, ensuring every night offers something new.

Wellness at the Spa

If you want to fully embrace vacation mode, the Despacio Spa Centre is a must. It features a large hydrotherapy circuit, a sauna, a steam bath, and a full menu of treatments.

We both enjoyed the spa’s 80-minute aromatherapy massage and left fully refreshed.

Easy to Reach, Hard to Leave

What truly makes Ocean Allure Costa Mujeres stand out, though, is how easy it is. From South Florida, you can leave in the morning and be poolside by noon. There is no long-haul travel, no complicated planning, just a seamless transition from routine to relaxation.

For couples looking to reconnect, recharge, and enjoy a little carefree fun together, Ocean Allure Costa Mujeres hits the mark. It offers the rare combination of convenience, true escape, and fun. A place close enough to get to easily, yet far enough away to remind you what it feels like to slow down.

And sometimes, that is exactly the kind of getaway you need most!
