Celebrating the 2024–2025 Silver Award Recipients of the Royal Palm Service Unit

The Royal Palm Service Unit, serving Weston and Southwest Ranches, proudly recognizes its 2024–2025 Silver Award recipients. The Silver Award is the highest honor a Middle School Girl Scout can earn. Each recipient identifies a community issue, develops a sustainable solution, and dedicates at least 50 hours of service. This year’s Cadettes completed nine meaningful projects that strengthened their communities in creative and impactful ways.

Troop 10088 – Not Yet at The Table

  • Scouts: Celine Jane, Karson Marsh, Vedanshi Pachichigar, Bhakti Patel, Kana Reynolds
  • Schools: North Broward Preparatory, American Heritage, Cypress Bay, Western High
  • Hours: 53+ each

This project promoted cultural understanding through food. The Scouts created “Not Yet at The Table,” a workshop and video series highlighting traditional recipes from around the world. Each recipe included a cultural background to encourage appreciation for global traditions. By sharing their work on Instagram (@NotYetAtTheTable), they ensured continued access and community engagement.

Troop 10330 – Ronald McDonald Charity House

  • Scouts: Karina Kyle, London Sosa, Emma Hughes, Gianna Lopez
  •  Schools: Archbishop McCarthy, Western, Fort Lauderdale, West Broward High
  •  Hours: 57+ each

Supporting families staying at the Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities, these Cadettes created personalized popcorn buckets filled with games, books, puzzles, snacks, and drinks. Their goal was to provide families with a comforting “piece of home” during challenging times, and the delivery to the Miami RMCC brought joy to children and parents alike.

Troop 14005 – Healthy Recipes for Healthy Kids

  • Scout: Elizabeth Diaz
  •  School: Cypress Bay High School
  •  Hours: 50+

Elizabeth developed a healthy snack recipe book for children, inspired by her own 2023 health journey. The guide includes nutrition information, approximate calories, and a color-coded safety system to help kids prepare snacks independently and safely. The project promotes healthier eating habits for children who prepare food on their own. Instagram: @HealthyRecipesForHealthyKids.

Troop 14005 – Pet Education

  • Scout: Danika Roach
  • School: Western High School
  • Hours: 50+

Danika partnered with the Humane Society to learn proper post-adoption pet care and then teach others. She volunteered with shelter animals, made blankets and treats, conducted research, and created @PetParenting101 on YouTube to share guidance on pet routines, dental care, vaccinations, and DIY projects. She plans to expand the channel to continue helping new pet owners.

Troop 14005 – Jewels for Joe

  • Scouts: Amelia Thompson, Natasha Assani, Stella Grossman, Sarah Gonzalez
  •  Schools: Cypress Bay, Western High
  •  Hours: 52+ each

Motivated by personal medical experiences, this team created more than 200 bracelet-making kits for children at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. They held in-person bracelet events, organized a fundraiser at Rick Case, and led a “Healthy Habits” workshop for Girl Scouts. Their goal was to provide comfort and connection for children navigating hospital stays.

Troop 14005 – Saving Corals Is the Moral

  • Scouts: Sofia Pestana, Sophia Garcia
  • School: Cypress Bay High
  • Hours: 51+ each

To raise awareness of coral reef conservation, the Scouts interviewed experts at Miami Waterkeeper, visited educational exhibits, and snorkeled to observe coral ecosystems firsthand. They compiled their research into presentations, YouTube videos, and a community event aimed at teaching others about coral reef threats and environmental protection.

Troop 14009 – Self-Care for the Elderly

  • Scouts: Zoe Juliette Holladay, Kiana Behjatnia, Maria Jose Gonzalez
  •  Schools: Somerset Academy, American Heritage, Saint Mark Catholic School
  •  Hours: 53+ each

This project supported senior wellness and social connection. The Scouts produced a chair-friendly yoga video to help individuals with limited mobility and hosted live bingo sessions that provided companionship and reduced feelings of isolation among elderly participants.

Troop 14009 – Teaching Kids to Use Resources Wisely

  • Scouts: Crista Anleu, Anastasia Lepervanche, Camila Kimenez-Gonzalez
  •  Schools: Archbishop McCarthy, Cypress Bay High
  •  Hours: 58+ each

These Scouts focused on early recycling education by creating 600 dry-erase calendars for Imagine Charter School. After teaching students what can and cannot be recycled, they encouraged families to use the calendars as a weekly, points-based recycling game, promoting lifelong environmental habits.

Troop 14009 – Cookbook and Tips for a Healthy Senior Time

  • Scouts: Alexandra Mishiev, Anatolia Levit
  • Schools: American Heritage Broward, Archbishop McCarthy High
