ArtFest Returns to Pembroke Pines in March

Artist Making Beautiful painting of woman

Although the seasons don’t change much in South Florida, we know spring is in the air when “ArtFest in the Pines” rolls into town. The two-day juried art festival showcases unique and fine arts in mediums such as Drawing, Jewelry, Mixed Media, Digital Art, Painting, Fine Handcrafts, Photography, Wood, Glass, and Three-Dimensional Sculpture.

“In its 22nd year, ArtFest in the Pines has become a tradition that the City of Pembroke Pines looks forward to each year,” said Mayor Frank C. Ortis. “Art brings people together, and ArtFest is a great way for our vibrant and diverse community to come together and enjoy incredible food, live music and family-friendly activities while celebrating the arts.”

In addition to spectacular art from artists across the country, there will also be plenty of fun entertainment, food trucks, live hands-on art demonstrations, pop-up art on the plaza, a student art competition, a kids’ art and game zone, children and adult workshops at The Frank Art Gallery in the lobby of the Great Hall, and so much more.

Tamara Seymour was named the 2020 ArtFest in the Pines poster winner for her artwork entitled, “Head Up”. Not only will this artist be featured on this year’s cover of the ArtFest booklet, but she will also be on site to share her love of art and meet her fans. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase her limited-edition masterpiece.

Artists who wish to be a part of ArtFest in the Pines can apply online at www.ppines.com/artfest. There will be cash prizes for medium categories and “Best in Show”.

“This is an annual event that just should not be missed,” added Commissioner Angelo Castillo. “It’s a great opportunity to buy and appreciate great art, meet talented artists, enjoy musical performances and experience a wide variety of fun activities for all ages.”

As part of ArtFest, the “3rd Annual Student Art Competition” will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at 1 p.m. This competition is open to students (grades K-12) who reside or go to school in Pembroke Pines. Collages, Drawings, Paintings, Photography, Sculptures, or a combination of mediums are accepted.

The budding artists will be judged on their artistic expression and creativity. Winners in each grade level will be announced and receive a ribbon and gift card as follows: 1st place: $100 gift card, 2nd place: $50 gift card, 3rd place: $25 gift card. Following the awards presentation, participants are invited to a free ice cream celebration.
