Our Town, Davie

By Mayor Judy Paul

The Town of Davie is pleased to announce that Evelyn Roig, Town Clerk, has earned her Master Municipal Clerk (MMC) designation from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks.   IIMC grants the MMC designation only to those municipal clerks who complete demanding education requirements; and who have a record of significant contributions to their local government, their community and state. The MMC program is an advanced professional designation that prepares participants to perform complex municipal duties.

Roig has more than 25 years of experience working in both the county and municipal level. She began working at the Town of Davie in 2009 as the Assistant Town Clerk. In 2014, she transitioned to her current role as Town Clerk. Her tenure in public administration is a testament to her commitment and dedication as a public servant. She has a Master of Public Administration, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Legal Studies and also obtained her paralegal certification from Florida International University. She also is an active member of the Broward Municipal Clerk’s Association.

Connecting Through Conversation:  An Interfaith Discussion” as part of the Broward 10 Days of Connection which was hosted by the Town of Davie on May 8, 2019 was a success.  We hoped those involved saw the value in gathering our community leaders together to find mutual understanding and awareness of one another.  The general consensus is to continue the discussion and create other opportunities through the Davie Diversity Dialogue led by Mayor Judy Paul.  Davie Diversity Dialogue will host a gathering in September to highlight the community’s role in protecting our precious environment. Topics will include but not be limited to community gardens, Nature-scape and Wildlife Habitat programs, understanding the importance of bees in our gardens, as well as educating the public on the proper way to recycle. The environment knows no bounds or limits.  If each house of worship becomes involved and does a project on their campus and shares their experiences and invites each to a butterfly garden opening or joins forces in a neighborhood beautification or community garden project it would be amazing. All cultures have natural remedies stemming from different fruits and herbs, hence an urban forest as diverse as our community. Davie already has community gardens at Robbins Park which we could expand, bringing religions and cultures together in a great new experiment!!!!  This could be huge by thinking out of the box!!! Using our collective voices to save the planet are foremost in this endeavor. We will include more information when it is available.
