Teaming up with Weekley Asphalt Paving, Inc., the City of Fort Lauderdale is spearheading streetscape improvements along the picturesque A1A, stretching from the Fort Lauderdale Beach Parking Lot entrance near SE 5 Street all the way to Sunrise Boulevard. Brace yourself for a revitalized atmosphere that prioritizes pedestrian safety and adds a touch of artistic flair to the cityscape.
The project includes a host of exciting elements that will leave you breathless. Picture this: existing palms gracefully relocated to the curbs, opening up extended sidewalk areas on both sides of A1A. The hardscape will receive a vibrant upgrade, boasting colored, decorative concrete that will infuse the surroundings with an irresistible charm. But that’s not all! Safety takes center stage as well. To illuminate the path for pedestrians, cutting-edge LED lights will be installed along the west side of A1A. During the majestic turtle nesting season, these lights will emit a warm amber glow, gently guiding the way. Once the nesting season comes to a close, prepare to be bathed in brilliant white light, transforming the beachscape into a mesmerizing spectacle.
Construction began on April 24, 2023, and the anticipated completion date is set for December of the same year.
