Plantation Celebrates its Horse Loving Heritage

For more than 18 years, the City of Plantation has been dedicated to providing a welcoming haven for the equestrian community, allowing them to indulge in their passion for horses and enjoy a vibrant equestrian lifestyle. Nestled within Volunteer Park, the city takes great pride in its Equestrian Center.

Since its inauguration in April 2005, the Plantation Equestrian Center has drawn countless visitors who have flocked to witness the exciting horse shows and exhibitions held every weekend. The expansive wetland area surrounding the center boasts boardwalks, multi-use trails, and bridle paths, offering the perfect opportunity to immerse oneself in the stunning landscape and observe South Florida’s diverse wildlife. Notable upcoming events include the Heritage Horse Show on June 3rd-4th and the Heritage Jump the Moon Horse Show on June 25th.

The Center itself is a picturesque oasis, characterized by its sub-tropical ambiance. It encompasses two stables, providing a total of 96 stalls, three show rings, two practice rings, numerous paddock areas, seating for approximately 300 spectators, a concession stand, restrooms, and on-site management. Spanning 85 acres, the park surrounding the Center showcases beautifully landscaped boardwalks, bridle paths, nature trails, wetlands, playgrounds, auditory sculptures, and an array of recreational areas.

Beyond being a remarkable facility, the Plantation Equestrian Center serves as the cherished home of the Plantation Acres Saddle Club (PASC). Founded as a non-profit organization 45 years ago, PASC remains dedicated to fostering the growth and development of the equestrian community. Throughout its existence, the club has consistently strived to preserve the rich heritage of equestrian sports by organizing shows that bring together riders of all skill levels in a friendly and supportive environment.

PASC’s core mission is to unite the equestrian community and promote horsemanship through events that provide educational experiences for riders and horses, instilling a deep passion and enthusiasm for the sport. Regardless of one’s equestrian discipline, the foundation for a fulfilling partnership lies in cultivating a calm, connected, and responsive horse. By nurturing and showcasing these qualities, individuals can truly demonstrate their love for the equestrian sport, bringing out the best in themselves and their equine companions.

Schooling shows play a pivotal role in learning and personal growth. These events offer an opportunity to test one’s skills, build confidence, and receive guidance from certified judges, ultimately advancing one’s riding abilities. It is important to recognize that the journey itself often holds more value than the rewards it brings.

In line with their commitment to fostering a safe and non-competitive environment, PASC actively encourages riders to respect and support one another. Embracing novelty, forming new friendships both among people and horses, and fostering a positive and welcoming atmosphere are all paramount to ensuring a truly enriching experience for everyone involved.

The Plantation Equestrian Center is located at 1451 NW 118th Avenue, Plantation, 33322.
