WESTON MUSIC SOCIETY HAS A MAGICAL MUSICAL SEASON PLANNED

Maestra Sebrina Maria Alfonso

The Weston Music Society has a wonderful season planned for our community. Says Co-Vice Presidents of Events, Diane Marett and Toby Feuer, “Music lovers of all genres will enjoy the eclectic offerings. We are really excited about this year’s programs”.

Kicking off the season will be:

Dance Fever will take place on December 3rd from 6:30-8:30 pm in the Weston Town Center. Pure Energy from Coral Springs will be providing the entertainment. Last year this event attracted many families, tees, and seniors, all trying out their special moves.  Our theme this year is Come Dressed in White to keep cool while you dance the evening away.

On January 29th, the WMS will partner with the City of Weston and the Arts Council of Greater Weston on the popular Celebrate the Arts Day.  The WMS will once again feature the bands, choruses, and drama departments from our high schools and middle schools.  The talent of these amazing young musicians, nurtured and developed by their dedicated school directors, always brings cheers from the appreciative audience.

On April 1, 2023, the City of Weston and the WMS will bring back the outdoor Pops Concert.  The South Florida Symphony, who wowed the crowd last year, will return with a fresh program of popular classics and Broadway/movie songs.

Plans are afoot to repeat the fabulous Summer Pops Concert which featured spectacular local talent.

President Gina Catone says, “The Weston Music Society has upped its game. In addition to these wonderful offerings, we are fully subscribed to 12 matching scholarships for graduating seniors continuing their music studies in college.  We also do in-school programs for the elementary schools and we work closely with the music departments at the high schools and middle schools.

We want to invite the community to join us to help make all these events happen.  If you choose to become a member, you can designate your membership to be used toward the scholarships.  We always need volunteers to help run our events.  We can only take on more programs if we have the people to run them.’

You can find more details about all these musical events by visiting the WMS website at westonmusicsociety.org. This is also where you can find membership options and volunteer opportunities. The WMS looks forward to meeting all of you throughout the year.
