Real Men Wear Pink

In its 5th year in Broward County, men will unite to fight breast cancer with the American Cancer Society through participation in Real Men Wear Pink of Broward. Throughout September and October, Real Men Wear Pink of Broward Ambassadors will encourage community members to take action in the fight against breast cancer. Visit RealMenWearPinkACS.org/BrowardFL for information and to support.

“In addition to wearing pink and raising awareness about breast cancer, these men will be raising funds to help the American Cancer Society attack cancer from every angle and save more lives from breast cancer,” said Peter Rose, Community Development Manager for the American Cancer Society. “Funds raised help us save lives from breast cancer through early detection and prevention, innovative breast cancer research, and patient support. We’re making remarkable progress. The breast cancer death rate has declined by 40 percent since 1989, reducing the number of deaths from breast cancer by more than 375,900 in the US. That’s real progress, and it’s all at risk because of Covid-19. Cancer hasn’t Stopped, and thanks to the Real Men Wear Pink Ambassadors of Broward and our supporters, neither will we.”

“I’ve had many family members and friends battle cancer. I wear pink in order to help raise money and awareness in the fight against Breast Cancer. We have worked to fund research to defeat this terrible disease. As a radiation oncologist in my community, I believe I have an obligation to do all that I can to try to help save more lives from breast cancer.” Dr. Castellon’s (Chief of Radiation Oncology, Memorial Cancer Institute, 2020 RMWP Ambassador).

Jamie Keogh (aka DJ Immortal, Director of Scratch DJ Academy, On-air Personality on 104.3 The Shark, 2020 RMWP Ambassador) said, “This disease has taken its toll on my family over the years. I lost my aunt to lung cancer and my uncle to skin cancer. Now my mother-in-law & sister-in-law are battling breast cancer. I want to do everything in my power to spread awareness and raise funds for this great cause. We all need to do our part to help cure cancer once and for all.” The awareness and fundraising campaigns are underway and continue through the month of October. On October 10, 2020, we will celebrate Real Men Wear Pink Day with a virtual event experience. It will be streamed on the Facebook.com/RealMenWearPinkBroward pag
