BCPS Congratulates VEX and FIRST Robotics Teams for Outstanding Seasons

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) congratulates the District’s VEX and FIRST Robotics school teams and coaches for their outstanding results during the 2019/20 school year. The following schools qualified for prestigious world championship competitions this year, prior to being canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. To qualify for the world championships, the school teams had to excel and win top honors during state and/or regional competitions.

BCPS teams qualifying for VEX Robotics World Championships: Lloyd Estates Elementary School, Manatee Bay Elementary School, Silver Palms Elementary School, Eagle Ridge Elementary School, and Coral Springs Middle School.

In addition, Dillard High School teacher Steve Szoke and Dillard High alumnus Arefin Bari are being honored by FIRST Robotics as Regional Volunteers of the Year. They were selected due to their coaching and mentoring of the Dillard High SigmaC@ts FIRST Robotics team and hosting their annual off-season regional Mission Mayhem competition every fall.
