The Sikh Society of Florida, The Sikh Youth Association and the Town of Southwest Ranches partnered in 2019 to raise funds for Educational Scholarships while promoting a healthy and active life style. “The purpose of our race is to unite people from all different walks of life as a community. Through this platform, we seek to promote open-mindedness and community activism among our local youth” said Guneet Moihdeen, President of Sikh Youth Association and a Junior at Mount Holyoke College.  “The goal of this event is to further strengthen the sense of community by breaking down barriers and fostering helpful and cognizant interactions,” said Pavitpaul Makkar, Community Outreach Director of Sikh Youth Association and a Junior at American Heritage School Plantation. The 2nd annual 5K Race will unite youth, adults and families of all faiths, beliefs and cultures together. “Especially now with the way the world is, we need our youth’s message of unity to resonate more than ever! This year we have expanded our 5K production committee to include student representation from more schools. Our pre-Race ‘Circle of Prayer’ will include diverse religious leaders joining hands in solidarity”, said Nikolas Garcia, President of Sunshine Kids Club and a Senior at Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy High School.

Following the event, all attendees are invited to enjoy complimentary food and unique cultural activities. Prizes will be awarded for finish line placement in all age categories.
