Westside Regional Medical Center’s New Patient Tower Opens

Westside Regional Medical Center has a simple mission: “We are committed to the care and improvement of human life.” As a care provider to the Plantation community since 1974, we are committed to meeting the needs of our community.  Our facility has offered world-class emergency, heart, stroke, and surgical care for years. Due to the demand for services, we recognized the need to expand to better deliver the care we provide.

To address this demand, we began the construction process on a three-story expansion in January 2017. In addition to 72 new private rooms, the expansion will include a new lobby, patient registration area, gift shop and café. Our goal is to create a healing environment with increased natural light in care areas and soothing interior colors. While the new expansion is creating 72 new private rooms, Westside’s bed count is only increasing by 26, from 224 beds  to 250 beds. We are excited to transition many of our existing rooms to private rooms. Additional enhancements to Westside include an enlarged surgical recovery area, renovated cafeteria, and a refresh of the interiors in the existing hospital.

Expansions of this size require support from many members of the community. We thank the City of Plantation for being partners in our expansion, as well as Plantation Police and Fire Rescue for their continued partnership with us in caring for our community. We also appreciate the patience of our patients and staff who visited our campus over the last 18 months.

We invite you to visit our newly renovated, 87,000 square-foot tower at our grand opening celebration on Saturday, August 17, 2019, from 9 a.m. until noon. We will offer a preview of the new tower through guided facility tours and provide a day of family fun as we celebrate this major milestone.
