The Arts Council of Great Weston is gearing up for the 13th season of its Weston Foreign Film Series, which runs November through March. This year’s line up promises plenty of laughs, tears and important life-lessons.

“This is our lucky 13th year. We’ve selected five wonderful films from five countries,” states Weston Foreign Film Series Chair Irene Caraway.

Arts Council President Jami Nix Rahn adds, “The films are all previewed and hand-picked for our audience. I personally can’t wait to see this year’s offerings.”

The 2018-2019 season starts on November 12th with Nosotros Los Nobles. In this Spanish-language film, three spoiled children are cut off from their family fortune and are forced to do the unthinkable – get a job.

The Swedish movie, The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared will be shown on December 10th. It’s the story of Allan Karlsson who, after living a long and colorful life, finds himself stuck in a nursing home. On his 100th birthday, he leaps out a window and begins an unexpected journey.

Terraferma will be shown on January 14th. In this Italian film, a Sicilian family deals with the arrival of a group of immigrants to their island.

Get in the Valentine’s Day mood with Road to Your Heart on February 11th. This film takes the audience on a road trip across the breathtaking landscape of South Africa as Basson, who has five days to get to his father’s funeral, must complete a series of tasks so that he can take over the family company. Along the way, he meets and joined by Amory, a free-spirited Bohemian girl. This movie is presented in Afrikaans.

The Weston Foreign Film Series concludes on March 11th with The Intouchables. The French film is about an aristocrat who, after becoming a quadriplegic from a paragliding accident, hires a young man from the projects to be his caretaker.

AMC Weston 8 hosts the Foreign Film Series. Show times are at 4:45pm and 7:30pm, with doors opening 30 minutes before showtime. All foreign language films have English subtitles.
