From April 1 to April 26, the Weston Branch Library will showcase the incredible creativity of local student artists. Sponsored by the Arts Council of Greater Weston and the City of Weston, the 18th annual Student Artist Showcase highlights outstanding artwork from public and private school students, spanning Pre-K through 12th grade.
Laura Dobrzanski, President of the Arts Council of Greater Weston, shared her enthusiasm: “We are excited to once again spotlight the incredible talent of our Weston students. Over a dozen schools are participating this year. The teachers pick out twelve works of art to represent their schools in the display. We are so appreciative of their dedication to their students being afforded the opportunity to have their works seen and appreciated by the whole community.”
A panel of artist judges—Maria Garces Luzuriaga, Juliana Sierra, and Lifrancis Rojas—will evaluate the submissions, selecting 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in seven categories across elementary, middle, and high school levels. Lifrancis Rojas remarked, “Each year, selecting the winners becomes increasingly challenging due to the exceptional quality of submissions. The diversity of subjects and the range of techniques used to create them are truly remarkable.” The exhibit will also feature images of last year’s winning pieces.

Young artists and their families will be honored at a special reception celebrating their achievements. Annalisa Walker, Special Events Manager for the City of Weston, emphasized the growing significance of the event: “We are so delighted to see the increase in participation for this wonderful exhibit. With the addition of the Arts to the STEM programs, now known as STEAM, it recognizes the importance of creativity to the learning of technical skills. Our City Commissioners are always eager to promote this city-wide event and encourage our residents to stop by the library.”
Make time this April to visit the Student Artist Showcase and experience the incredible artistic talent thriving in our community!
