Plantation Police Community Engagement Programs Connect to the Community

The Plantation Police Department has a number of programs to connect the force with the community. The Community Engagement Unit’s (CEU) primary responsibilities consist of reaching people in a friendly and neutral environment designed to build and enhance positive relationships with law enforcement.

The mission of the CEU is to connect with the community by building positive relationships and providing public education regarding personal safety and crime prevention. Officers also serve as problem solvers to connect people with social services. Additionally, they foster relationships with at-risk youth through the Plantation Police Department’s Mentorship Program. This program is designed to create meaningful relationships through the use of follow up with the juvenile and their families, field trips, board games, and various other activities.

The CEU also houses “The Fuzz” which is a musical band comprised entirely of Plantation Police Officers. The band plays a variety of music, encompassing multiple genres. They can be seen at city functions and even city parades!

The CEU also works with local area non-profits to support outreach programs such as Shop with a Cop, DEA Drug Take Back, Back to School Supplies Drive, Holiday Food Drive and Thanksgiving meals giveaway, and the Christmas Toy Drive.
