Weston World Fest Shines on the Stage and Screen

Travel the world without leaving town at the 4th annual Weston World Fest. This highly acclaimed community event celebrates Weston’s diversity by exposing patrons to the culture, cuisine and entertainment of various countries around the world. This year’s event takes place on Sunday, March 3rd at Weston Regional Park.

The Arts Council of Greater Weston and the City of Weston introduced this event four years ago. It is a two-time award winner for “Best Cultural Event” in the Best of Weston competition, taking home the title during its inaugural year and again last year. Event organizers have been working diligently to build upon that success with new and exciting activities, country booths, and sponsors for 2019.

“The Weston World Fest has quickly become the area’s number one cultural event,” states Don Decker, Weston’s Director of Parks and Recreation. “The event is even more impressive when you consider that it is produced by our residents, for our residents, and with our residents coming together to make it all happen.”

Patrons will be able to visit 20 country booths exhibiting cultural displays and hands-on activities, with a passport challenge just for students. Authentic ethnic food and beverages from area restaurants will be available for purchase. Throughout the day, live professional and semi-professional performers and entertainers, representing different countries and cultures, will take the stage. This year’s Weston World Fest features a theme of “Stage & Screen”, highlighting international movies, music, theater and performances.

“I’m very excited about this year’s Weston World Fest,” announces Event Founder and Director Carol Lema. “We have some fascinating new country booths such as Singapore, Cuba, Malaysia, Indonesia and Krygystan, plus incredible on-stage entertainment including Chinese instrumentals, international show tunes and dances, Brazilian vocals and American jazz. And our restaurant line-up is fantastic.”

Other activities include a Kids Zone with face painting and balloon twisting, a henna booth for all ages, and an Inflatable Zone for teens and adults. There will also be raffles with prizes appealing to both children and adults, including tickets for fun kids’ activities and a coveted golf package for four.

“Weston World Fest is an event that offers exciting experiences for every age,” states Arts Council President Jami Nix Rahn. “It brings neighbors together in celebration of our diversity.”
