Hundreds of runners, spectators, and friends converged at the Amerant Bank Arena for a special event dedicated to celebrating the life of Aden Perry, raising funds for a noble cause, and engaging in healthy physical activity. This gathering was orchestrated by Sarah Perry, Aden’s mother, who transformed her grief into a mission of community service following her son’s tragic death.
Aden Perry passed away in high school while heroically attempting to save another teen from a car accident in a local lake. In the wake of this tragedy, Sarah Perry initiated a community program to provide lifesaving flotation devices near public lakes, continuing her son’s legacy of helping others.
The event kicked off with a yoga and stretching class, setting a mindful tone for the 5K run that followed. Participants enjoyed a scenic route around the stadium grounds, energized by a live DJ. Post-run, the atmosphere was filled with joy as attendees indulged in barbecue from Mission BBQ and enjoyed beers while listening to the Beatles tribute band, The Beatlemaniax.
The event not only celebrated Aden’s life and contributions but also successfully raised significant funds for the Aden Perry Foundation, ensuring that his spirit of community aid lives on. It was a day of fitness, fun, and remembrance, deeply resonating with all who took part.
