The red carpet rolled out tonight as Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) celebrated its brightest stars at the annual Caliber Awards Ceremony. Held at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center, the event transformed into a night of Hollywood glamour, recognizing the exceptional leadership and dedication of over 550 nominees, 34 semifinalists and 16 extraordinary finalists.
More than 1,100 guests in attendance and thousands more participating virtually cheered the nominees as they walked across the stage. The evening culminated with the highly anticipated announcement of the 2024 Caliber Award winners, each one a shining example of educational excellence.
Cypress Bay Cypress Bay High School Principal Kassandra Fried took home top honors as Principal of the Year! She joined the District 21 years ago as a French teacher. Fried believes every student should have access to a comprehensive, inclusive and empowering education.
“Creating an inclusive environment is vital to ensuring that every student has access to educational opportunities. My priority as principal is to advocate for a student-centered approach that focuses on meeting the needs and strengths of each student,” Fried said. “I strongly believe in nurturing a well-rounded education that goes beyond academics and encompasses the emotional and ethical aspects of each student’s growth.”
“Ms. Fried is an instructional leader and mentor, who understands the value of professional and personal relations. She has created an exceptional learning environment for both students and staff,” Director Teresa Hall said. “To achieve this goal, she builds relationships with teachers, staff, students and community stakeholders based on trust.”
Proficient in four languages, and a mother to six children – including triplet boys – Fried is proud that all her children are products of BCPS. This further motivates and inspires her commitment to creating a supportive and enriching educational environments for all students.
