From Russia With Love!

Due to the overwhelming success of last year’s event, The Russian American Chamber of South Florida (RAC) was proud to make the “Russian Heritage Celebration Weekend” an annual tradition by partnering once again with the City of Sunny Isles Beach. More than 1,500 joined the festivities which celebrated Russian cultures and traditions with live music, special performances, delicious food, dancing, arts and crafts and more.

The free weekend began with a concert at Gateway Park in Sunny Isles Beach on Saturday night. Popular local artists took the stage and entertained the crowd with some of their favorite tunes and dances. Performers included Aleksey Avdiievskyi, Pavel Novikov, Victor Boo, Anastasia Skachkova, Iulia Cviki, Sergei Smirnov, Larisa Moskaleva, Valery Dolgin, and Maria Prokofyeva. Mikhail Kazansky handled the sound and lighting.

The great kick-off was followed by an “Arts and Cultural Showcase” on Sunday at Sunny Isles’ Heritage Park. Local schools showed off the talents of their young students who performed for the crowd. The showcase included Sunshine State Academy, VK Dance, Mad Monkeys Kids Entertainment, Kirova Ballet, Sky Dance Academy, Sunny Isles Beach K-8 Music Club, LM Vocal Master Studio, Vladimir Issaev School of Classical Ballet, and KIDZonSTAGE.

“The City of Sunny Isles Beach is a small paradise lined with magnificent high rises and surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Intracoastal Waterway on the west. With this much beauty all in one city, it’s no wonder the Russian speaking population has an affinity to this prestigious zip code,” expressed Alla K. Rios, Director of Operations, Russian American Chamber of South Florida.

Many local businesses and restaurants also participated in the two-day celebration to honor the growing Russian community.

The Russian American Chamber of South Florida (RAC) is an organization created to enhance the prosperity of Russian and American businesses in Florida. They are committed to serving the needs of the growing Russian community by providing leadership, advocacy, networking opportunities, education, cultural awareness, and exposure. Through their continued efforts, the RAC has become the “go to” source for information, support, cultural events, festivals, business referrals, networking, socializing and much more.

Due to RAC’s extensive involvement and dedication to helping people and businesses, many refer to the Russian American Chamber of South Florida as the trusted voice in the Russian community.

“We are grateful to The City of Sunny Isles Beach for once again hosting this two-day special celebration to honor the many Russian speaking people who live in the community and the contributions they make to South Florida,” added Rios.
