Since 1979, the OurTownAmerica festival has offered a weekend of fun, rides and food for the entire family to enjoy.
The City of Coral Springs’ longest-running festival is celebrating its 41st year. The three-day arts, entertainment, and business festival will begin on Friday, March 13th and continues through Sunday, March 15th from 10 am to 11 pm, at the Coral Springs Sportsplex, 2575 Sportsplex Drive Coral Springs, located between Sample Road and Royal Palm just East of the Sawgrass Expressway.
The OurTownAmerica mission is to provide a fun festival for the whole family while raising funds for programs and services of Community Nonprofit Organizations in the Broward, Palm Beach, and Miami-Dade County areas. After the weekend festival, OurTownAmerica, Inc. donates proceeds to local organizations.
This year, OurTownAmerica will feature events geared towards family fun and include live entertainment, food court, amusements, arts & crafts, merchant booths, a classic car show, games, and much more. Local Community Service Organizations and other Nonprofit Organizations will host food concessions. They will have about 30 festival rides for children and adults of all ages, food booths, local entertainment for opening ceremonies on Friday evening from 6 pm to 11 pm, and on Saturday they offer local talent till 11 pm; on Sunday they start at Noon and go till 6 pm with more local talent including bands, singers, dancers and martial arts. The entertainment tent is 50’x100′ with a raised stage 30’x40′ with a full state-of-the-art sound & lighting system with a resident technician. Other attractions include: professional wrestling, classic car show, demonstrations by Coral Springs Fire Department and much more. They will also have a meet and greet on Saturday from 12:30 pm to 2 pm with actress Sami Gayle, who plays Nicky Regan Boyle from the TV Show “Blue Bloods”, who will be here to answer all of your questions– don’t miss this opportunity!
“OurTownAmerica is a great three-day event that brings the community together for a weekend of fun, entertainment, and great food. OurTownAmerica brings approximately 100,000 people to the event over the weekend. The goal is to have fun and enjoy all that the event has to offer,” said Joseph Pozzuoli, OurTownAmerica Vice Chairman and Entertainment Chairman.
The first OurTownAmerica festival was held in 1979. Originally the OurTownAmerica event was sponsored by the Coral Springs Chamber of Commerce. In 1997, a group of non-profit organizations and private individuals banded together to reorganize the event and established OurTownAmerica, Inc., a not for profit 501(c) 3 organization whose board has put on the event ever since.
With the reorganization in 1997, a program of giving back to the community with the OurTownAmerica proceeds was established. OurTownAmerica is a non-profit corporation whose board consists of representatives of local non-profit or charity groups including: Ernest Kubasek, OurTownAmerica Chairman, Knights of Columbus/Vets Collection Coral Springs; Joe Pozzuoli, OurTownAmerica Vice Chairman, Mrs. P’s Broadway Dancers; Mary Boast, Kiwanis; Richard Kendall, SOS Children’s Village; and William Otto, Sea Scouts Ship 339. Non-Profit organizations involved with the festival receive funding from the proceeds for their various worthwhile charities.
Though the weekend event is known for its amusements, classic car show, live entertainment and booths, this very important purpose of giving back to the community has made the event very meaningful for the community.
