Weston Mayor Peggy Brown Elected President of Florida League of Mayors

In a momentous step for both the City of Weston and municipal leadership in Florida, Weston Mayor Margaret “Peggy” Brown was officially sworn in as President of the Florida League of Mayors (FLM) for the 2025–2026 term. This follows her election as President‑Elect in August 2024, a clear vote of confidence from her peers across the state.

Mayor Brown, Weston’s first female mayor, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. During her tenure as President‑Elect (2024–2025), she partnered with then‑President Nancy Miller of Daytona Beach Shores—gaining valuable statewide insight and forging key connections that will support her presidency.

Founded in 2005, the Florida League of Mayors is a member-driven nonprofit dedicated to empowering mayors through leadership development, education, and collaboration. Governed by a Board of Directors, the League emphasizes its core values of service, collaboration, respect, influence, integrity, commitment, communication, accountability, and education.

Among its hallmark initiatives are educational workshops, regional meetings, and webinars offering training in areas such as grant funding, infrastructure, public speaking, and effective municipal governance. The League also administers the City Catalyst Grants program, providing up to $2,500 for local projects, alongside student civic engagement initiatives like the “If I Were Elected Mayor” program and the Innovation Awards.

Under Mayor Brown’s leadership, the FLM will continue its work in advocacy: coordinating with the Florida League of Cities legislative team on initiatives like Home Rule Heroes and Local Voices United, and fostering strategic networking among municipal leaders at conferences and legislative events.

For Weston, having Mayor Brown at the helm of Florida’s mayoral network elevates the city’s voice in statewide discussions, while showcasing the caliber of leadership our community produces.
