BCPS Celebrates New XR Devices at Silver Trail Middle School Grant Partnership Brings Immersive Learning Technology to Students

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is marking an exciting step forward in innovative teaching and learning with the arrival of new Extended Reality (XR) devices at Silver Trail Middle School. The initiative, supported through a partnership with the College Football Playoff Foundation and the Orange Bowl Committee, with additional support from the Broward Education Foundation, introduces cutting-edge tools designed to transform student engagement across all subject areas.

Silver Trail Middle is receiving 50 XR headsets along with two specialized carts designed to store, charge and sanitize the devices, ensuring they are classroom-ready at all times. These immersive tools allow students to explore virtual environments, interact with complex concepts and deepen understanding through hands-on digital experiences. The school is also unveiling a newly refreshed Innovation Space featuring colorful, collaborative seating areas that encourage creativity, teamwork and 21st-century learning.

The XR devices and upgraded learning areas are part of a multi-year grant coordinated by the BCPS Applied Learning Department. Over five years, the grant will provide approximately $500,000 in funding and in-kind donations, including furniture, equipment and technology, to 10 schools across the District. Silver Trail Middle joins Apollo Middle School, Bair Middle School and Millennium 6-12 Collegiate Academy as the latest recipients of this transformative technology.

The celebration brought together BCPS leadership, representatives from the Orange Bowl Committee and the College Football Playoff Foundation, school administrators and staff, students and community stakeholders. Together, they highlighted how XR devices will elevate instruction, spark curiosity, and open new pathways for immersive learning.

With the installation of these new tools, Silver Trail Middle School continues to advance its commitment to providing students with dynamic, future-focused learning experiences that prepare them for the world ahead.
