Mark your calendars, Plantation! The beloved 66th Annual Volunteer Firefighter BBQ is set to ignite community spirit and tantalize taste buds on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Pine Island Park (Soccer Fields), located at 8200 S.W. 3rd Street. What began over six decades ago as a grassroots effort by our original Plantation Volunteer Fire Department has blossomed into one of South Florida’s most anticipated fall events, celebrating service, tradition, and family.
Prepare for a culinary experience like no other! Our brave volunteer firefighters, who have honed their skills even in competitive BBQ events, are fired up to deliver their best-tasting BBQ yet. Indulge in tender, slow-cooked chicken and our now-famous pulled pork sandwiches, prepared with a secret spice rub and smoked to perfection in a custom trailer smoker generously provided by Cheney Brothers. A true highlight is our signature BBQ sauce, lovingly crafted from the original recipe by former Mayor Frank Veltri, a cherished tradition passed down through generations of firefighters. Don’t miss the delicious smoked corn on the cob, expertly prepared by our Rescue Division with a variety of fun and flavorful toppings! Hot dogs will also be available for kids.
But the fun goes far beyond the food! The 2025 event promises a day packed with entertainment for the entire family. Enjoy live music by the Shane Duncan Band, playing a variety of genres. Let the kids loose in the bounce houses and experience up-close animal encounters at the petting zoo. Be sure to catch the exciting live fire demonstrations showcasing the incredible skills and training of our volunteer firefighters. Plus, explore unique goods and services from local entrepreneurs in the Vendor Village, spotlighting businesses and artisans right here in our community.
This event is more than just a fundraiser; it’s a vibrant celebration of community spirit, public service, and hometown pride. While admission is free, food and drinks will be available for purchase, with all proceeds directly supporting the Plantation Volunteer Fire Association (PVFA). Your participation helps fund firefighter scholarships, community safety programs, high school fire cadet program and our Care A little community outreach program.
Come for the incredible flavors, stay for the family fun, and help us celebrate 66 years of dedicated service. Join your neighbors on November 2nd, 12-5 pm, Pine Island Soccer Park, 66th Annual PVFA Firefighter BBQ—because great food, great music, and great neighbors truly make a great community! We can’t wait to see you there!
