On Thursday evening, July 24, 2025, on the stage at 7:00 pm at Temple Dor Dorim, the Weston Music Society will present “Summer Sounds”. Toby Feuer, Vice President of Events, notes, “This annual event has grown in popularity. This year’s program promises cool music, providing a break to the long, hot summer. We have an outstanding group of musicians and a wonderful program featuring popular tunes played by members of the South Florida Symphony Orchestra”.
The WMS will also be honoring Senator Nan Rich with the Weston Music Society Platinum Circle Award for her service to the Arts in Weston. She has supported the scholarship program and always finds a way to help spread the word about the Arts. Says President Lou Marett, “We are so lucky to have such a dedicated leader right here in Weston. She is a passionate public servant.”
Our vocalist, already a favorite in Weston, is Chris Santiago, charming audiences with his smooth voice and gifted trumpet playing. He has received the 2019 Songbook Celebration Award, presented by 5-time Grammy nominated artist Michael Feinstein; the 2018-19 Young Artist Award Winner of the Society for the Preservation of the Great American Songbook, founded by legendary radio personality Dick Robinson and the late, great Vic Damone; and is a 2020 National Young Arts Winner in Jazz Voice. Chris’ first release, titled “Square One”, features some of his favorite tunes and is available on all the major platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, and YouTube.
Among other favorites, the program features: “I Get a Kick Out of You”, “Night and Day”, “World on a String”, and the ever popular “Mr. Paganini.” Many of you will remember as Chris brought the audience to its feet at the Spring Pops Concert with his rendition of “The Impossible Dream”, dedicated to his Cuban grandparents, now in America, who were in the audience.
As an undergraduate at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, Connor Rohrer, piano, has worked with 5x Grammy-winning artist, Samara Joy and Arturo Sandoval, among others. He was a finalist in the Herbie Hancock Institute International Jazz Piano competition. He has also developed his skills in composition, transcription/notation, analysis, and pedagogy during his years of study. He was given the opportunity to write for the BBC Concert Orchestra for Samara Joy’s debut on the 2025 BBC Proms.
Born and raised in New England, drummer/composer Lucas Apostoleris has lived in Miami for the past decade. He is in demand as a sideman and is involved in a variety of projects in South Florida. As a bandleader, he has released three albums of original music, most recently “It’s Been Good” in 2024.
Michael Ramo, bass, studied at the University of Miami and has been active in the Miami music scene. He tours domestically and internationally with a variety of artists.
The WMS is delighted to bring such a talented group of musicians to our community. We invite you all to join us for a festive evening of world-class entertainment. A dessert reception, door prizes, and a 50/50 drawing will add to the evening’s fun.
