Pembroke Pines Students Shine in 2025: A Year of Remarkable Achievements

As the 2024–2025 academic year concludes, students across Pembroke Pines have demonstrated exceptional accomplishments in academics, arts, athletics, and community service. Their dedication and talent have brought pride to their schools and the broader community.

Academic Excellence

At Pembroke Pines Charter High School (PPCHS), the Class of 2025 celebrated a memorable Senior Awards Ceremony. Over 100 senior leaders were honored for their achievements, with 23 students earning the prestigious Summa Cum Laude distinction. Notably, senior Sophia Assis received the Lorraine Vazquez Arts Scholarship, reflecting her outstanding contributions to the arts.

In the realm of journalism, PPCHS’s student-run newspaper, The CHAT, continued its tradition of excellence. The Journalism Honor Society, reestablished this year, provided students with opportunities to delve deeper into journalistic endeavors, fostering a new generation of storytellers.

STEM and Innovation

The PPCHS Robotics & Engineering Team achieved global recognition by being named the Global Winner in the 2025 competition. Their innovative designs and teamwork showcased the school’s commitment to fostering STEM education.

Additionally, the school’s engineering robotics team secured the #1 state ranking, earning a special scholarship presented during the Senior Awards Ceremony.

Community and Character

The Pembroke Pines Police Department honored exemplary students through their Student of the Month program. In May 2025, students were recognized for their achievements and positive contributions to their schools and community.

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) celebrated educational excellence at the 2025 Caliber Awards. Richard D. Lamarre, a dedicated science teacher at Miramar High School, was named Teacher of the Year for his innovative teaching methods and commitment to student success.

Arts and Culture

Franklin Academy’s Pembroke Pines K–8 campus continued to nurture young talents through its International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme. Students engaged in various arts and cultural activities, reflecting the school’s emphasis on holistic education.
