Broward Health Coral Springs marked a significant milestone in February, with the grand opening of its newly constructed $16 million medical-surgical and step-down intermediate recovery unit. The state-of-the-art facility, located on the fourth floor of the hospital’s South Tower, enhances patient care with modern amenities and advanced monitoring technology.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony brought together distinguished leaders from across the region, including Coral Springs City Manager Catherine Givens, City Commissioner Shawn Cerra, Tamarac Vice Mayor Dr. Kicia Daniel, and a representative from State Representative Christine Hunschofsky’s office. Also in attendance were North Broward Hospital District Commissioners Nancy Stamper and Stacy Angier. Guests toured the facility, exploring its private rooms and cutting-edge equipment designed to improve patient outcomes.
“This expansion not only boosts our ability to provide exceptional care, but the addition of private rooms elevates the experience for both patients and their families,” said Kristen Bowman, CEO of Broward Health Coral Springs. “I am deeply grateful to my outstanding team for their unwavering dedication in making this possible.”
The new unit introduces 28 private rooms—16 dedicated to medical-surgical patients and 12 designed for those requiring intermediate-level care. With this addition, the hospital’s inpatient capacity has grown from 250 to 278 beds.
“At Broward Health, our vision is to be the champion for a healthier community,” said Shane Strum, President and CEO of Broward Health. “Achieving this requires continuous progress and expansion to meet the evolving needs of our growing community, and this project is a perfect example of that commitment.”
The expansion, completed in just under a year, was led by DPR Construction as the general contractor, with architectural design by Nelson Worldwide.
