The creativity displayed at this year’s Chalk in the Park event was out of this world. The Arts Council of Greater Weston and the City’s Parks and Recreation Department came together to host this annual event that offers our community the opportunity to put their creativity on display. Congratulations to all of the participants and our hats off to this year’s winners! Over 300 participants and happy observers who were walking the park thoroughly enjoyed the day. And thanks to all the staff and volunteers for their efforts in making this the best Chalk in the Park to date!
Annalisa Walker, Special Events Manager for the City of Weston, noted, “This year’s theme was not easy by any means, but the creativity that came to life at Library Park was nothing short of amazing. It was great to see families and groups of friends come together to bring their chalk art designs to life. There were smiling faces throughout the park and a true sense of community that brightened up the afternoon”.
Lifrancis Rojas, one of the judges added, “The “Word Play Chalk Contest” in the park invited participants to creatively illustrate idioms using colorful chalk. Artists brought phrases like the elephant in the room”, “Bookworm” and “Otter this world” to life on the sidewalks, turning the park into a playful outdoor gallery. Families enjoy guessing the idioms, and judging focuses on creativity, accuracy, and artistic skill, blending humor, art, and language”.
