Sheridan Technical College celebrates a special grand opening. The ceremony included a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, October 25, 2024, with participation from the school, Broward County School Board members, Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn, District staff and Community members. The event marked the culmination of a project funded by the BCPS SMART Bond Program, which aims to modernize educational spaces and enhance learning environments for students and staff.
In addition to the media center renovation, Sheridan Technical College is undergoing a comprehensive campus transformation. This includes re-roofing projects, fire alarm, and fire sprinkler system replacements, and HVAC upgrades. With a total investment of approximately $19 million, these enhancements are designed to improve the overall educational experience for students and staff.
BCPS Superintendent Dr. Hepburn emphasized the District’s dedication to providing students with the best possible learning environment is unwavering. “This modern media center is a testament to that commitment, designed to inspire creativity, foster collaboration, and support their academic success.”
The grand opening ceremony showcased the diverse talents of Sheridan Technical College. A student performance included the rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner and Pledge of Allegiance. The school’s Beowolves club presented a spoken word performance, while the Debate Club performed a skit from the play “Wicked.” The college’s culinary program also provided delicious treats for attendees to enjoy.
The ceremony welcomed a range of District leadership and community figures, including School Board Vice-Chair Debra Hixon (Countywide At-Large Seat 9); School Board Members Daniel P. Foganholi (District 1); Sarah Leonardi (District 3); Superintendent Dr. Hepburn; and other District staff.
