Tell us about JakobLegal.

My primary practice areas are estate planning and probate estates. My goal is to plan today to keep your family out of probate and avoid government intervention. I also want to help keep my clients’ autonomy as they age. It is essential to provide families with less burden when caring for loved ones or their estate when they pass.

That sounds important! What makes your practice different from others?

I deliver peace of mind, not just documents. While our clients sign documents like Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, and Deeds, each plan is personalized to ensure their last words reflect their wishes. I also meet with families during the rough times and provide support and a sympathetic ear when needed.

We have streamlined the estate planning process.  I like to say, ‘You can spend less time at your lawyer’s office and more time living your life at JakobLegal.’ When someone thinks about “Estate planning,” the first thing that often comes to mind is creating a will. While we offer that service, we can help you with a
full range of services designed to protect your
loved ones.

You have won Our City Davie’s ‘Best of Davie’ award for several years in a row. What do you attribute your success to?

I love what I do and enjoy every day! I get to meet with folks and chat all day. I treat my clients with the same care and respect I want for my family. I promise exceptional customer service and personalized attention.

When should people begin to seriously think about estate planning?

People should seriously consider estate planning and consulting with an estate planning attorney when they experience key life events, like getting married or having children.  In fact, we have a specific plan for college students.  It isn’t only about protecting your assets; it is about protecting your autonomy as you age, become incapacitated, or have family responsibilities that require long-term planning. A young married couple may not think about what would happen if their spouse became ill, incapacitated,
or worse, but an estate plan can ease those difficult times. An estate plan typically includes a will or trust, but the most important documents for a new couple are Health Care Directives and Powers of Attorney.

It is also critically important to update your Estate plans as your life changes. Having a child, retiring from a job, or buying a piece of property may require modifying even a perfect plan.
