It’s kick-off time for the fourth annual POSH High Tea and Prosecco benefiting Women in Distress! This event was established four years ago when Lindsay Malpica-Bey of Weston was told that 75% of the organization’s donations come from third-party events, and just coming out of COVID, they were in need more than ever.
This nonprofit organization is dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic violence. It provides a range of services, including a 24-hour crisis hotline, emergency shelter, advocacy, counseling, therapy, and educational programs.
Women In Distress’ mission is to stop domestic violence abuse for everyone through intervention, education, and advocacy.
As the president of the new Rotary Club of Weston Royal Palm, co-founder of Be Local Weston, and Principal Real Estate advisor at Posh Homes Group Compass, LLC, Lindsay had the community resources to pull this event together in just three short months. The success of the event is a testament to the Weston community’s spirit of giving.
Local businesses donated generously, Weston DJ Jason Bank kept the party alive, City Commissioner Chris Eddy offered to purchase tickets for those in need, and City Commissioner Mary Molina-Macfie, along with BSO, took time out of their busy schedules to support the cause. Everyone who attended that day knew they were part of something truly special.
Looking back at last year, this event raised an impressive $30,000, making it the third-largest Women in Distress fundraiser. From the inspiring speakers to the generous vendors who donate and set up for guests to kick start their holiday shopping, to the flowing prosecco and delicious desserts from local Weston bakeries and restaurants, this has become a highly anticipated afternoon in the community.
You will laugh, you will cry, you will network, mingle with your neighbors, and most importantly, you will make a significant difference in the lives of those affected by domestic violence. This is an afternoon that will stay with you, right here in Weston.
High Tea & Prosecco will take place at The Club at Weston Hills on November 22, 2024 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm. To learn more, call 954-684-6686.
