“We wanted to do something to reward our loyal local clientele,” Patrick, the longtime proprietor, says. “It’s gratifying to see the same familiar faces for decades, especially the ones who’ve made their way from the west side.”
Shenanigans has been a local institution for over three decades, initially founded in 1992 near T-Y Park in Hollywood. Almost two years ago, Patrick and wife-partner Christine consolidated their operations post-pandemic at the Federal Highway outpost they started in 2008, formerly known as Shenanigans Eastside Pub.
“It’s funny that people still refer to it as ‘the new location,’ Patrick says. “It’s not so new – we’ve been here for 16 years. But it seems like we opened it just yesterday.”
Shenanigans is known for cold beer, great burgers and wings, and a wide-ranging menu with more than 200 items, everything from barbecue smoked in-house to health-minded options, including salads and cauliflower-crust pizza. With rotating weekly specials and hearty $13.99 lunch specials, Patrick describes the fare as “elevated,” we’re not just a sports bar; we’re a sports gastropub.” We have late-night dining with a kitchen open until 1 a.m. on weeknights and 3 a.m. Friday-Saturday.”
Besides longtime regular patrons, Shenanigans also features many familiar faces among the staff.
The approaching NFL and college football seasons always inspire hope and bring crowds. Until then, Shenanigans will make customers cheer (and say “Cheers”) with a slew of summer drink specials.
Enjoy refreshing drink specials including $8 fresh fruit Piña Coladas and strawberry daiquiris, and $7 Jose Cuervo Margaritas. Try a bucket of five Landshark beers for just $10. Enjoy $4 draft lager pints (a specialty beer made for Shenanigans), $4 Michelob Ultra longnecks, and $4 shots of Screwballs and NUTRL Pineapple.
Other all-day drink specials feature $7 Jim Beam Bourbon, Captain Morgan Rum, Papa’s Pilar Blonde Rum, Absolut Vodka, and Jameson Irish Whiskey.
Satisfy your hunger with $8 Happy Hour bar bites such as loaded potato skins, nachos, pulled pork sliders, and cauliflower-crust cheese pizzette. These specials are available from 3-6 p.m. and midnight until closing at the bar, with a beverage purchase required.
The Shenanigans on Federal Highway was born when Pat bought two neighboring restaurants in 2008. He connected the properties by building a tiki-thatched covered breezeway. The south side has a family-friendly dining room and a Southern Pride smoker that offers a full range of barbecue options.
The north side features a traditional sports bar environment with a large bar, high-top tables, and a kitchen with a multi-deck Baker’s Pride brick pizza oven.
When he opened the original Shenanigans in 1992, Patrick wanted to bring better options to the dark and smoky world of sports pubs. A lot has changed in the decades since, but his team’s passion for quality, value, and hospitality hasn’t wavered.
“Our formula is still the same – this is where the locals go,” Patrick says.
