NSU Law Grads Recognized for Outstanding Pro Bono Service

Fifty-eight NSU Law graduates were recognized for clocking a total of 8,258 pro bono hours at a special recognition program hosted by NSU Law’s Van Horn Law Group Pro Bono Honor Program.

Seven stand-out graduates – Malaak Abdulrazzak, Charles Cramer, Blake Frame, Joseph Freiria, Gabriella Roldos, Breana Sause and Hannah Trieschmann – completed more than 300 hours of pro bono legal service. The balance of the students completed between 50 and 299 hours.

NSU Law alumnus Chad Van Horn, founding partner attorney of Van Horn Law Group, P.A., and primary supporter of NSU Law’s pro bono honor program, spoke at the event as part of the ceremony.

“The students who participate in NSU Law’s Van Horn Law Group Pro Bono Honor Program quickly realize that pro bono legal service is lifechanging, both in terms of the experience gained as well as the lives impacted,” said Van Horn.  “A majority of low-income people simply can’t afford legal services, so they have nowhere to turn. A pro bono lawyer becomes a lifesaver.”

Van Horn and his team at Van Horn Law Group are committed to providing pro bono legal services having taken on more than 340 pro bono cases.  Van Horn Law Group believes legal services should be available to everyone, not just those who can afford it.

“By supporting the pro bono efforts at NSU Law, our hope is to bring up a new generation of attorneys who commit to providing pro bono legal services throughout their career,” added Van Horn, “Together, we can have an incredible impact on the underserved in our community.”
