On May 18th, families in Pembroke Pines are invited to celebrate the 14th Annual National Kids to Parks Day, a nationwide event encouraging outdoor fun and exploration. Hosted by the Pembroke Pines Recreation and Cultural Arts Department, this local celebration will run from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, offering a variety of free activities in several parks throughout the city.
Mayor Angelo Castillo encourages local families to take advantage of this special day. “This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the beautiful weather and the excellent park facilities we are fortunate to have in Pembroke Pines,” he said. “Let’s all come together to appreciate and explore the great outdoors where we live.”
Initiated in 2011 by the National Park Trust, Kids to Parks Day aims to connect children and families with their local, state, and national parks and public lands. The event promotes engagement with the outdoors, providing educational opportunities in park stewardship, outdoor recreation, STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), and American history. By fostering a love for nature and outdoor activities, the day helps cultivate a new generation of enthusiasts committed to preserving and caring for our precious public lands.
