Support a great cause and get some exercise at the 4th Annual Blue Hope Colon Cancer Awareness 5K on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Miramar Regional Park (16801 Miramar Pkwy, Miramar, FL 33027). This family-friendly event aims to promote wellness, fitness, and awareness of colon cancer and early screening in South Florida.
Colorectal cancer is now the leading cause of death for men under 50 and the second deadliest cancer for women in the same age group. This cause hits close to home as we mourn the loss of our President and Founder, Natalie Marc Surpris, who battled Stage 4 colon cancer and passed away at 42. We stand united to continue the fight against this disease, emphasizing that colon cancer is preventable, treatable, and beatable when detected early.
We Stand Together Inc. believes in building an educated and healthy community. While the 5K is a one-day event, we hope it encourages healthier lifestyles and motivates individuals to schedule screenings. Our goal is to inspire hope and empower those battling cancer with the message, “No One Fights Alone!”
The event starts at 7:00 a.m. with an opening ceremony featuring a warm-up session led by a fitness instructor and a DJ. The 5K kicks off at 7:30 a.m. Enjoy field activities, a children’s corner with an Easter egg hunt, health/food vendors, and more. The day concludes with a closing/awards ceremony, honoring top runners, teams, and presenting the Natalie Marc Surpris Scholarship Fund recipients.
Funds raised will support our “We Stand Together Financial Assistance Program,” aiding those affected by cancer with emergency funds for living expenses. Additionally, contributions will benefit the Natalie Marc Surpris Scholarship Fund, assisting high school seniors or college undergraduates in Florida whose parents battled cancer.
Registration costs are $30 for Adults, $25 for Students (11-17), $15 for Kids (6-10), and free for children under 5. For sponsorship opportunities or more information, contact 954-667-9336 or [email protected]. Stand together against colon cancer.
