Golf enthusiasts and community supporters, mark your calendars for a day of sport and philanthropy at the prestigious Annual Mayor Frank C. Ortis Golf Tournament. Set against the backdrop of the beautifully manicured Pembroke Lakes Country Club, this event, happening on Friday, March 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., is not just a game of golf but a significant occasion to support the Pembroke Pines Charter School Foundation.
The day will kick off at 9:00 a.m. with player registration, followed by a variety of activities including a putting contest, a sumptuous lunch, and the main event: an 18-hole competition on the breathtaking course designed by John Stanford. The Pembroke Lakes Golf Club is renowned for its exceptional John Sanford Design course, featuring Paspalum Supreme Grass, top-of-the-line E-Z-GO Golf Carts equipped with GPS systems, Coquina Waste Areas, and an extensive practice area perfect for honing your golf skills.
Mayor Frank C. Ortis extends a personal invitation to all golfers to join this wonderful event, emphasizing not just the competitive aspect but the opportunity to meet and mingle with members of the Pembroke Pines community. Beyond the greens, the event promises an evening of elegance with a high-class dinner buffet, award presentations, a live auction, and an array of prizes.
The tournament serves a noble cause, with all proceeds benefiting The Pembroke Pines Charter School Foundation. Established in January 2004, the foundation aims to support teachers and students by creating a one million dollar endowment fund. This fund provides scholarships for high school graduates, teacher scholarships for further education, and Employee of the Year bonuses, contributing significantly to the growth and success of the Pembroke Pines Charter School System.
The Pembroke Pines Charter School System stands as a testament to the city’s commitment to educational excellence, being the largest Charter School System in Broward County and the largest municipally run non-profit charter system in Florida. Since its inception, the system has expanded to include several campuses, offering top-tier education from elementary through high school levels.
