If you’re a beach enthusiast and an animal lover, mark your calendar for the 34th Annual VCA Walk for the Animals. This major fundraiser takes place on Saturday, February 3, at the scenic Las Olas Intracoastal Promenade Park (80 Las Olas Cir) in Fort Lauderdale. Organized by the Humane Society of Broward County, the event plays a pivotal role in funding the care for countless homeless animals welcomed by the shelter each year.
The Humane Society of Broward County offers an array of services and programs, including affordable vaccinations, educational initiatives, and efforts to prevent pet surrender. These are supported largely by the generosity of participants in the VCA Walk for the Animals. The day begins with registration at 7:30 am, followed by a morning filled with fun activities, interactive games, local vendor booths, and more. The highlight, an optional 1-mile stroll, kicks off at 9:00 am along the picturesque Fort Lauderdale Beach, concluding the event at noon.
Participation is complimentary, and you can register as an individual or assemble a team by forming a Pack at Walk4theAnimals.com. The VCA Walk for the Animals is not only the Humane Society of Broward County’s most significant fundraising event but also a highlight of the year for many, including myself, as a member of the Humane Society of Broward County’s Planned Giving Committee and a regular attendee of the Walks. It’s a joyous occasion, perfect for bringing along your dogs, friends, and family, combining support for a noble cause with the delight of a beachside promenade surrounded by cheerful dogs.
