The City of Plantation has completely renovated Pine Island Park. The project was finished in lat August with gates officially opening at a Grand Re-Opening on Saturday, August 27th.
The 25-acre renovated park will primarily host soccer events for recreation and travel teams, which will include large-scale tournaments. The City also plans to host community events at the park for the entire Plantation community.
Pine Island Park holds 14 acres of sports fields including six natural grass turf fields, and the City of Plantation’s first synthetic pre-lined turf field with one 11 v 11 and two 7 v 7 soccer fields with perimeter safety netting. There is also a 7,700-square-foot synthetic turf goalie practice area complete with perimeter safety netting and LED sports lighting.
Other renovations included the newly upgraded Perry Weather System, a complete weather station with real-time weather forecasting, improved drainage, 14 custom-made shade structures over spectator bleachers, newly constructed restrooms and concession stand, increased parking spaces, and a new maintenance garage.
Future improvements will include a newly constructed and modernized playground. Wonderful parks like Pine Island Park are why the grass is always greener in Plantation!
